National Diaper Awareness Week

Waiākea supports the Hawai'i Diaper Bank

This October, our Kōkua Initiative continues its partnership with the Hawai'i Diaper Bank during our Monthly Drive at KTA Puainako in Hilo on October 1st from 8:00am - 11:00am. During the drive, we will be collecting donations essential items for the Hawai'i Diaper Bank, food for The Food Basket, and additional donations for both organizations.

Did you know?

  • Diaper need is the lack of a sufficient supply of diapers to keep an infant or toddler clean, dry and, healthy
  • 1 in 3 families has to choose between giving their baby diapers or food
  • The average low-income family pays about $1,000/year for diapers
  • Hawai'i County, where our Plant and HQ is located, has the highest rate of poverty in Hawai'i, with 38% of children under age five living below the federal poverty level

Volunteering at the Hawai'i Diaper Bank

This Drive is also being held in conjunction with National Diaper Need Awareness Week, which is an annual campaign where diaper banks from around the country work to raise awareness about diaper need and plan events to rally sustainable support for diaper bank programs.
