How to Make Simple Syrup to Mix with Waiākea’s Kona Cold Brew

There's nothing quite like the smooth, bold flavor of Waiākea's Kona Cold Brew to bring some aloha to your day. But if you're looking to add a touch of sweetness to balance the rich, volcanic brew, simple syrup is the way to go.

Unlike sugar that may not dissolve properly in cold beverages, simple syrup effortlessly blends with cold drinks, adding a touch of sweetness without any gritty texture. Plus, anybody can make it from home!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of sugar (or a sugar substitute for a healthier option)
  • 1 cup of water
  • A small saucepan
  • A mason jar or heatproof container for storage
Directions:
  1. Combine Sugar and Water: Start by mixing 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. You can add more or less sugar to reach our desired sweetness.
  2. Heat Until Fully Dissolved: Set the saucepan over medium heat and stir constantly until the sugar has completely dissolved. Do not let is boil.
  3. Cool and Store: Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the pan from heat and let the syrup cool. Pour it into your heatproof container and store it in the fridge for up to a month.

Aloha Tip: If you're feeling extra flavorful, you can infuse your simple syrup with vanilla extract, cinnamon, blueberries, or anything of your preference by adding a little during Step 2.

How to Use:
Once your simple syrup is ready, mix it into your 3-liter Waiākea Kona Cold Brew to your desired sweetness. Start with a tablespoon or two, taste, and adjust from there.
