Waiākea is honored to be part of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a U.S. Department of Defense program that promotes supportive work environments for citizen-Soldiers. Recently, Geoli Ng, the Executive Director of our nonprofit Kōkua Initiative received the ESGR's Patriot Award for our work to help local military families.

The Patriot award celebrates supervisors who provided outstanding support to National Guard personnel.

Over the years under Geoli's leadership, Waiākea has partnered with the Hawai‘i Army National Guard to donate water at food distributions for service members and their families in Hilo and on the islands of Kaua‘i and Maui.
