HILO, HI — [June 28, 2024] — The Summer is here and Waiākea Hawaiian Volcanic Beverages has two new essentials to add your year-long island style fit with its two newest product drops: a limited edition collab visor with softball sensation, Jocelyn Alo, and a brand new, lightweight bamboo hoodie.
Waiākea looks to hit its latest collab out of the park with the Home Run Queen herself, Jocelyn Alo. An O‘ahu native and Waiākea Ambassador, Alo shattered records while attending the University of Oklahoma where she was a two-time National Champion and Player of the Year. She also holds the record for most home runs in NCAA college softball. As she has since moved on to make waves on the professional level, Jocelyn recently became the first woman to sign a contract with the independent professional Savannah Bananas baseball team.
Printed and embroidered in Maui and designed with Jocelyn in mind, the limited edition visor features a floral crown print that was inspired by the traditional Hawaiian lei po‘o. This release comes fresh off Waiākea’s last brand ambassador collab project with Aaron Kai and Bay Area streetwear brand Collect and Select, which sold out in under an hour on Collect and Select’s site.
Every visor sold will help to support Jocelyn’s partnership with the Hilo company and the efforts of its Kōkua Initiative to support the most vulnerable throughout the islands.
Soft, sustainable, and stretchy, the Waiākea Bamboo Hilo Hoodie is hand-crafted from start to finish, perfect for a day spent hiking up mauka (mountainside) or relaxing down makai (ocean side). The breathable material consists of 71% bamboo, 25% organic cotton, and 4% spandex making for the perfect amount of stretch and comfort for all climates and activities, adapting with the wearer. With the eco-friendly nature of bamboo due to its rapid growth, minimal water use, and being able to be grown in diverse climates, this hoodie is a great sustainable clothing option that will last for years to come. The blend of organic cotton and bamboo ensures a fabric with a reduced environmental footprint.
Sustainably sourced and manufactured products, which also help to giveback, align with Waiākea’s commitment to mālama i ka ‘aina and support those in need through its Kōkua Initiative locally here in Hawai'i, across the continental US, and throughout the world.
Over the course of its journey, Waiākea has impacted over one million lives through its partnership with Pump Aid to provide clean water in Malawi, Africa, and the efforts of Kōkua to provide food, books, clothing, essential items and more.
The limited release Jocelyn Alo Visor and Bamboo Hoodie are now available exclusively online at Waiākea.com.
