Hawaiʻi – October 01, 2024 - Waiākea partners with its Kõkua Ambassador, Angela Lee Pucci, and In4mation to launch “United We Fight” campaign.
A former six-time MMA World Champion, Angela Lee Pucci is the Founder of Fightstory and Co-Founder of United BJJ Hawaii. Fightsory aims to destigmatize mental health challenges within the fight community and raise vital funds to provide resources that were made by fighters, for fighters. Earlier this year, Angela and Fightstory announced a partnership with the UFC, the world’s largest mixed-martial arts organization, furthering the goal of normalizing the conversation around mental health and wellness in combat sports and helping to provide wider access to Fightstory’s Mental Fight Kit. The Mental Fight Kit is a first-of-its-kind resource that provides people with science-backed, storytelling-driven tools for mindset resilience, emotional wellness, and culturally relevant support to combat athletes and underserved communities.
“United We Fight” continues Angela’s work in this arena. The campaign brings together partners from three different worlds who share island roots, a commitment of caring for the community and hopes of inspiring a more sustainable, healthier world. In4mation was founded in 2002 by a group of friends who connected via skateboarding and the clothing industry. In the time since, they’ve grown from a small, local brand into an internationally known name having partnered with Stussy, Vans, and Albino & Preto. Earlier this year, in partnership with Waiākea Hawaiian Volcanic Beverages, they launched the ‘Collabs with Purpose’ series. Waiākea, a certified B-Corp from Hilo is known for its sustainability initiatives and giving back through its non-profit Kōkua Initiative. For Angela, who is also the official Waiākea Kōkua Ambassador, the collaboration between the partners flowed naturally.
The campaign is highlighted by a limited-edition merch capsule created by In4mation, and features the powerful symbols of the Hyena (representing loyalty, resilience) and the Moth (symbolic of transformation, inner healing). The drop will launch online on October 10th, World Mental Health Day. People on O‘ahu will have the opportunity to join a community event the following day on October 11, hosted by United BJJ Hawaii, with a pop-up by In4mation and Waiākea. Proceeds from the capsule will be donated directly to Fightstory.
"In the fight world, we are conditioned to show physical strength, but the battles that we all can face within, the mental and emotional struggles, are often fought in the shadows," said Angela. “United We Fight is our commitment to shining light on those unseen battles. Through this partnership with Fightstory, United BJJ, In4mation, Waiākea and the Kōkua Initiative, we are creating awareness that no one has to fight alone because there is a compassionate community in our corner.”
