Maya Brady, a senior for the UCLA Bruins Softball team, has made an impact on the
program from the moment she stepped onto campus.
As a freshman in 2020, she practically tore the cover off the ball, hitting .356, slugging .699, and leading the team with seven homeruns. She also had seven multi-hit games (out of 26 games played), scored 22 runs, and drew 11 walks. The next year, as a pandemic-induced redshirt, she was named Softball America’s Freshman of the Year, First Team All- Pac-12, Pac-12 All-Freshman, and NFCA First Team All-American.
In 2023 Maya produced her best season yet, earning the Pac-12 Player of the Year award and being named a finalist for the 2023 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award. Maya broke a 24-year-old UCLA record with 11 consecutive base hits and has moved up to third on UCLA’s career slugging percentage list (.733). She also became just the 7th Bruin in program history to have five multi-homer games in a career, and her astonishing .456 batting average solidified her as the 2023 Pac-12 Batting Champion.
Maya is the daughter of Maureen Brady who was an All-American pitcher at Fresno State and the niece of both NFL Legend Tom Brady and former Red Sox fan favorite Kevin Youkilis.
Maya is more than just a softball player. As she continues her career, Maya wants to inspire the next generation of young girls by showing that women can have a powerful voice on and off the diamond. In March of 2022, Maya was included among Champion Sportswear’s “Champion Circle” that features a group of 12diverse, female collegiate athletes. The group was featured alongside hip-hop star, Saweetie, in the nationally televised “Get It Girl” campaign that spotlights stylish solutions where female athletes can feel comfortable, both on and off the field. Through her partnership with our Kōkua Initiative, she will continue to contribute to the advancement of softball and women's sports.
